Mobile Cell Phone Invention

The initial idea behind the cell phone originated in 1947, a time when developers realised that mobile telephones in cars could be developed using small cells (cells are the coverage of service area) to improve the communication capability of the mobile phone. This, however, came with major issues: the technology required was unavailable.

In 1977, AT&T and Bell Labs had created a prototype mobile phone unit and it was trialled throughout Chicago in the USA. Two years later, the first commercial company to start building mobile telephone units began production in Tokyo.

By 1994, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) had issued part of the frequency spectrum to public mobile communications.

Since then, hundreds and thousands of companies worldwide have been producing phones or developing technologies to improve phones.
